Born in Ambala, Vinod Sehgal had earlier exposure to music from his father Sh. Sohan lal Sehgal. He had his formal training from Smt. Asha Chhabra, Sh. R.M.Kulkarni and Sh.Charnji Lal Jigyasu.
Vinod Sehgal is one of the young talents groomed by Jagjit Singh. He got his career break as a Ghazal singer with the release of Cassettes “Brightest talents of 80’s” and “Jagjit Singh presents Vinod Sehgal” .Jagjit Singh further presented him as playback singer in film Ravan.
He sang for famous Music Director R. D Burman, Khayyam, Usha Khanna, Ram Laxman, Kuldeep Singh, Anand Miland, Amar Haldipur, Vishal Bhardwaj, Sapan Jagmohan and Hans Raj Behl.
Over this period of time he sang in films covering Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Oria.
His famous movies includes Gulzaar’s famous Maachis, Bezubaan, D. Baba Sahib Ambedkar, Train to Pakistan, Raavan, Sun Meri Laila, Mujhe Vachan Do, Chor – Police, Kalka, Bhagmati, Raahi and many others.
