MoU signed between Amity University and ITDC to boost the tourism and hospitality sector

A hospitality major, India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC), under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amity University, Haryana, Gurugram.

The MoU has been signed with an aim to offer six-month certificate courses and one-year diplomas in hospitality trades (such as food production, bakery, food and beverage service, front office operations and tourism and travel students) through Ashok Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (AIH&TM), one of the premier public sector unit (PSU) hospitality training institutes of the country under ITDC.

Piyush Tiwari, the incumbent Director (Commercial &Marketing) of ITDC & Prof (Dr) Padmakali Banerjee, the present Pro Vice-Chancellor of Amity University Haryana have signed the MoU. Ms Ravneet Kaur, IAS, the incumbent Chairperson & Managing Director (C&MD) of India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd were present on the occasion.

Also, Pradip Kumar Das, director (F); Anita Bimal, general manager, human resource development (HRD) and principal, AIH&TM; Bhavana Adhikari, deputy dean, academics, Amity University; Arunangshu Bhattacharya, professor and head of school, Amity School of Hospitality, Amity University, and senior officers from both the organizations were present at the occasion of signing ceremony.

Speaking on occasion, Ms Ravneet Kaur said, “ITDC has always been paving the road to success and change, driving the growth of tourism in India. We believe tourism and hospitality are two important segments contributing to nation building and progressive development.”

Further, she said, “AIH&TM, the ISO 9001:2015-certified HRD wing of ITDC, has trained over 28,000 candidates through its hotels and industry partnerships. With an excellent past placement record, we believe that this collaboration of ITDC and Amity University Haryana will impart skills to students and contribute to the growth of tourism in India.”
