Woman Killed In Accidental Firing At Wedding Ceremony

The cases of Accidental firings are increasing over time. Even after the government has restricted the use of a gun at weddings, people are still bending the rules which are causing loss of lives. A 30-year-old woman was killed in accidental firing during a marriage ceremony in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday.


The incident took place in Sisoli village under Bhorakala police station limits. The victim, Poonam Kashyap was working when a man, Shubham, accidentally opened fire at her from a country-made pistol, Circle Officer (CO) Girja Shankar Tripathi said. Two days back, A female dancer was shot in the face during a wedding in UP itself, after she stopped for a break between songs. The 22-year-old, named Hina, was performing at a ceremony for the daughter of a village leader in northern Uttar Pradesh province when someone in the crowd opened fire. Two men, identified by police as Sudhir Singh and Phool Singh, were arrested on Friday after the video of the shooting was widely circulated on social media.

In a similar incident, a 25-year-old pregnant dancer was killed in celebratory firing during a wedding in Punjab's Bathinda in 2016. Kulwinder Kaur was shot in the stomach while performing on stage. She died on the spot.
