03-Aug-2019

Climate change is already upon us, and its effects are being felt with increasing intensity. It is no longer about the distant future; decisions made today will impact us in our lifetimes. As a solution to this crisis, India’s largest integrated company- Tata Power launched an initiative ‘I Can’.

‘I Can’, is the second phase of Tata’s ongoing ‘Switch Off to Switch On’ campaign. The initiative needs the user to share their innovative solutions towards the challenges of climate change and can win prizes for the same. It also features #Bucketbharochallenge, weekly contests, online classroom on disaster management topics on its website https://www.tatapower.com/green-community/. The company also started a series of the video named 'Climate Change-Chote Ustad' on its website and youtube as a part of the campaign.

Talking about the campaign, Shalini Singh, Chief Corporate Communications, and Sustainability, Tata Power, said, “Taken as a whole, the net damage costs of climate change are likely to be significant and to increase over time. We believe sustainability is a construct that is embraced and woven into the enterprise strategy. As a responsible organization, through our campaign ‘Switch Off to Switch On’, we are trying to foster sustainable living amongst individuals and help fight climate change".

The company has established a center of excellence over the years to help address climate change thereby promoting responsible advocacy. "As we look to harness environment and resource conservation through our latest video on fighting climate change, we aim to encourage the society at large to contribute towards building a sustainable community", the company added.
